Spring is one of those times when many of us are worrying about slimming down for summer.

Exercise and healthy eating are clearly the way to achieve this long term, but I’m a true believer in working with your body as it is NOW and making the most of your assets!

It can do wonders for your self-confidence and there are many things you can do to feel better about yourself.

The first of these and probably the most important is to focus on the things you like about yourself and make the most of your best bits.

In doing this you automatically draw attention away from the parts you think are less appealing. So for example, if you like your shoulders, arms and bust but think your hips and thighs are a bit too curvy, then add detail to the upper half of your body, through colour, pattern or accessories and leave the lower half plain.

Or if you love your legs and ankles, but are self-conscious about your tummy, then bring the focus to your pins by wearing patterned tights, or jeans or trousers with some sort of detail or embellishment, or some great shoes, sandals or ankle boots to bring attention to your shapely ankles.

Remember that detail of any kind, whether, accessories, pattern, pockets, buttons, colour etc will draw the eye to whatever party of the body these are on, and draw attention away from those parts left plain.
